Details

Holme House Barn is a luxury holiday cottage nestling in rural farmland, surrounded by fields and woodland. It is located 300 metres from a country lane and is only visible from Holme House itself.

The 17th century barn has been sympathetically converted to maintain its original charm whilst providing guests with modern, comfortable accommodation. The ground floor has two bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin bedded room together with the bathroom and hall way. Upstairs is an open plan living area with a stunning gable-ended window. A bed-settee, which can be utilised, by prior arrangement, as the sleeping place for 2 extra guests, is part of this area.

All the visitor attractions and walks in the Forest of Dean are within easy reach of the barn, several of them by simply walking there.

We provide toys and games for children, and waterproof mattress covers upon request. A stairgate, cot and highchair are also available.

We have a dog crate if needed.

Notes

  • Holme House Barn is situated in a quiet rural setting in the Forest of Dean about a mile south of Mitcheldean (A4136 Gloucester to Monmouth). Vehicle access is from a no through road (Jubilee Road) over a cattle grid and about 400 yards along a track (no tarmac) to a former farmyard (concreted) where there are designated parking spaces for barn visitors. Parking is less than 15 yards from the front door of the barn. A short flagstone path leads 1 step (8cms high) to the front door which has 2 steps (17cms and 15cms high respectively). This door is 193cm high, 95cm wide and leads into the ground floor which has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a staircase leading to the open plan lounge and kitchen/diner. Central heating is under floor on both floors of the barn. The utility room has one radiator. An electric fire can be supplied if needed. There are 3 internal doors... The bathroom = 197cm h x 70 cm w; The double room = 197cm h x 70 cm w; The twin room = 197cm h x 70 cm w; All bedding is non-allergy. Towels are provided. The staircase has 13 steps all approximately 20cm high x 80 wide. There are two 'landings' on the staircase both about 80cm square. Access to the Utility/games room is from the outside of the barn about 10 metres from the front door. This has a washing machine, condenser drier, a freezer and a second fridge. There are double doors here 195cm h x 150cm w (75cm wide each). There are external lights at the front of the barn. There is a handle for support on the wall in the bath/shower. There is no hearing loop in the barn. Buses from Gloucester to Coleford/Monmouth stop at the junction of Jubilee Road and the A4136. Mobile phones frequently receive no signal inside the barn. There is a land line and broadband wireless access. A small 'garden' gate, east of the car park, leads to the public footpath across a grassed field to Abenhall Road and beyond. (It leads to the Gloucestershire Way... eastwards. The access track leads to the western end of the Gloucestershire Way). Other linked paths lead northwards/southwards. There are boot racks in the barn and the utility room.
