Farne View House

Farne View House

Front of Farne View House on Fenkle Street, Holy Island

Details

Holy Island, known as the Cradle of Christianity, is a wonderful destination for families, walkers, nature lovers and those interested in our cultural heritage or those who just want a place to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Farne View House, Farne Court Cottage and Farne View Cottage are 18th century stone built buildings, centrally located on Holy Island and are near to Lindisfarne Priory and castle, the sandy beaches and the harbour. Farne View House and Farne View Cottage both have stunning views of Lindisfarne Castle and the coast. The Village shop is just a short walk away.
It is the ideal location from which to discover the Northumbrian countryside, World Heritage coastline, castles, stately homes and exciting outdoor sports that the region has to offer. Bamburgh and its castle, only a short drive away on the mainland, have wonderful long white beaches along the dunes.

The classic Georgian façade of the house belies its ancient roots. It is believed to stand on the footings of a previous building which housed the monks from the nearby priory, formed when St. Aidan began the Christian Church in this country. Furnished and equipped to a high standard, these centrally heated and comfortable cottages are an excellent base to explore the lovely and varied Northumberland and Scottish Borders countryside, together with the World Heritage coastline. The Castle, Priory and harbour are a short walk from the cottages. There are lovely long walks across the dunes to the secluded sandy beaches, and fantastic bird watching. Close by are golf courses at Belford and Goswick, where horse riding is also available.

Farne View House is built on 3 floors and sleeps 7 people very comfortably. Top floor: Bedroom1: one super king zip-and-link double. Bedroom 2: three single beds and an 8th using a 'z' bed if required. It also has a family bathroom on this floor (bath, toilet & hand basin). First floor: Living room with flat screen TV and separate DVD/CD player and living flame electric fire. Bedroom 3: an ensuite shower room in the super king zip-and-link double bedroom (shower & hand basin only). Ground floor: dining kitchen with open fire, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Separate toilet with hand basin on the ground floor.
The cottages, on 2 floors, sleep 4 in each cottage and have been sympathetically restored and renovated while their traditional features have been maintained to provide cosy and comfortable accommodation at any time of the year. Both cottages have two double bedrooms: Farne Court Cottage has a double and a super king zip-and-link double bed which can be used as a double or 2 x singles. Farne View Cottage has 2 x super king zip-and-link doubles both of which can be used as doubles or 4 x singles. There is private parking at the side of the main house, enough for one car at each cottage. All 3 properties are heated by electric storage heaters together with an open fire in Farne View House kitchen, and a Living flame electric fire in the sitting room. A multi-fuel burner in Farne Court Cottage and a log burner in Farne View Cottage. All power, solid fuel, bed linen and towels are included in the tariff. One well-behaved pet allowed in Farne View House and Farne Court Cottage by prior arrangement at an extra charge of £20. Both cottages have a bathroom on the second floor (Bath, separate shower unit, toilet & hand basin).
Outside, both cottages share an enclosed courtyard garden at the front with separate garden furniture. Farne View Cottage also has its own private garden at the gable end and Farne View House has its own private garden across the road which is very secluded. Parking is available there for the house. All 3 of these cottages are non-smoking.
